Pilgrimage to Charleville

It was the first occasion that our Association made a pilgrimage to the Diocese of Cloyne.

Charleville, as its name suggests, was a plantation town, founded by Roger Boyle, Lord Orrery in the year after the restoration of King Charles II.  However, it is as the seed-bed of nationalist poets, prelates and patriots that Charleville is most famous.  It was the birthplace of Seán Mac Domhnaill and Daniel Mannix.  Éamon de Valera walked from the nearby townland of Bruree to school there each day.

The beautiful Church of the Holy Cross is only 110 years old.  Canon Lebocq of the Institute of Christ the King, based in Limerick, was the celebrant of a wonderfully reverent Mass.

Msgr. Wach re-elected as Prior General of the Institute of Christ the King

Our readers will know the wonderful vibrant new Catholic Religious Community, the Institute of Christ the King, Sovereign Priest. Founded in 1990 by two wonderful Priests, Msgr. Gilles Wach, Prior General, and Fr. Philippe Mora, Rector of the International Seminary of St. Philip Neri, the Institute now comprises almost 100 Priests and almost as many Seminarians.

One of the most important aspects of the Institute and the work of Msgr. Wach and Fr. Mora is the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus. Can there be a healthier development for the Traditional Movement or for the Church than the restoration of Traditional Religious Life for Women?

Both England and Ireland have received the blessings of a permanent presence of the Institute in their own Churches. Members of our Association are very devoted to this wonderful Congregation. Corkonians will know their Priests, Deacons, Oblates and Seminarians from their regular visits to Ss. Peter and Paul's.

The following communiqué was issued from the General House of the Institute of Christ the King:
On the feast of St. Charles Borromeo, November 4, 2014, and in accordance with Article 20 of the Constitutions of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest, the General Chapter gathered in the presence of Monsignor Patrick Descourtieux of the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei at the Motherhouse in Gricigliano in order to elect the Superior General.
The vote elected Monsignor Gilles Wach as Superior General for the next six years.
Let us render thanksgiving to Divine Providence while invoking the intercession of Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception so that the Institute may be ever faithful in the service of God’s Holy Church.
Rev. Canon Gilles Guitard
Secretary
It is available here from the General House's website and here from the website of the United States Province.

Félicitations Monseigneur!
